About Us

Welcome to Capology Department! My name is Ryan and about 10 years ago, I showed up to my dorm room on the first day of my freshman year of college to find that I was placed into an overcrowded and cramped room with several roommates. One of the roommates that I would meet for the first time that day was Marc and what started as a random room draw has turned into a decade long friendship.

A good chunk of that friendship has always been debating and discussing football. From contracts to free agency and trades, we’ve always loved having a good argument over what teams should do.

After one of our debates about our playoff predictions I suggested that we turn these conversations into a site. Right off the bat we knew that this couldn’t be based on our opinions, we’d have to learn much more about the cap and explain what the numbers were telling us.

It has been a fantastic journey that has brought us closer together during a time when it is common for college friends to drift out of contact with one another. We look forward to this continuing as we learn more about something that interests us both so strongly.

We believe there has really been no better time to start exploring these topics from the front office perspective than right now. Between a higher number of big name players, primarily QB’s, hitting the free agent market than ever before and the new collective bargaining agreement and all of the ramifications of that come with that, we’re on the precipice of a perfect storm of change in the league. We want cover all of that change by remaining focused on the two real drivers of all decisions in the NFL, the impact on cap dollars and real dollars.

We’re not professional writers or full-time journalists. We need your feedback and suggestions! Let us know what you think, what we missed, or ideas for future topics.

Thank you for taking this journey with us and welcome to Capology Department!
