Chad Ryland Draft Profile

Chad Ryland was honored as a Second Team All-Big Ten player, a recognition reserved for the top-performing athletes in the conference. He followed this up with an invitation to the 2023 Reese’s Senior Bowl, a nationally recognized postseason all-star game that spotlights elite college football players.

Ryland’s talents were further recognized by his inclusion in the 2022 Second Team Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten, a selection process based on statistical analysis and industry experts’ in-depth evaluations of game performances. Additionally, he was named to the 2022 Lou Groza Award Watch List, which is awarded annually to the best collegiate placekicker in the country.

Before the 2022 season, Ryland was listed on Lindy’s Sports Preseason Second Team All-Big Ten and the Pro Football Focus, Athlon Sports & Phil Steele Preseason Third Team All-Big Ten.

During the 2022 season, Ryland demonstrated his exceptional skills as a kicker, starting in all 13 games and successfully making 19 out of 23 field goals, an impressive 82.6% completion rate. He displayed noteworthy accuracy, successfully making all 9 of his attempts from under 40 yards. He scored 96 points, the eighth-highest number of points scored by a Terp in a single season. Additionally, his 19 field goals made during the season were the fifth-most ever by a Terp kicker in a single season.

Ryland’s impressive performance throughout his college career culminated in achieving the highest field goal percentage ever recorded by a Terp kicker with over 20 attempts.
